Nuzest is pleased to introduce Sarah Killion as its newest sports influencer. Sarah currently plays for Sky Blue FC in the National Women’s Soccer League.
Let’s take a moment to get to know Sarah Killion.
Q. For those of us who don’t know you, who is Sarah Killion?
A. I am a 24-year-old Christian female athlete who plays professional soccer in the NWSL. I try my best to do the right thing and lead a healthy lifestyle both on and off the field in every aspect of life. When it comes to nutrition, I am very particular about what I eat because I know that what I eat is fuel for my body every single day, whether I am stepping on the field or not. I am an ambassador for Nuzest because I believe in their products!
Q. What does being a Nuzest ambassador mean to you?
A. Being a Nuzest ambassador to me means that I get to represent something that is striving to make the world a healthier place, and I feel so honored to be a part of that movement. I believe in a healthy lifestyle and a huge part of that is nutrition. Being an ambassador for Nuzest means that I get to live out my dream and be a part of a team of great people who work every day to bring health and wellness into the community around them.
Q. How do you make healthy choices and avoid temptations when it comes to your nutrition?
A. I choose healthy choices by always being prepared. When I have a long day or when I go on away trips with Sky Blue, I always pack plenty of healthy snacks for when I get hungry. For me, it is all about preparation because when I do get hungry, I have healthy options to eat rather than giving in to temptations that surround us everywhere.
Q. What is your favorite indulgence?
A. My favorite indulgence is a warm chocolate chip cookie. I have found that the healthier I eat, the less I crave sweets! So, this is a rare occasion!
Q. What is your favorite healthy snack?
A. My favorite healthy snack is anything with peanut butter. I love putting peanut butter on a banana, rice cake, or even in my Nuzest protein smoothie!
Q. When not on the field, how do you stay active and fit?
A. When I am not training, I enjoy going on a walk or leisurely bike ride down to the beach. I also enjoy coaching and I work with teams and individuals who are looking to improve their skills.
Q. What is your favorite form of exercise (besides soccer)?
A. I truly enjoy weightlifting! I like the idea of training and working every muscle in my body even if I am not moving the heaviest weight.
Q. What are your favorite songs on your workout playlist these days?
A. I grew up on country music and I could always listen to whether I am working out or not. But one of my favorite artists of all time is Ed Sheeran, and his new album has been on repeat since it came out!
Q. Aside from being a soccer superstar, what do you do for fun?
A. Like I said, I do quite a lot of coaching on the side right now. I enjoy teaching kids about the game and different ways that they can improve to become the best player that they can be. I can always enjoy a good book and a good TV show! Most of all though, I enjoy seeing something unhealthy and trying to make a healthier version of it in the kitchen with wholesome ingredients.
Q. What advice do you have for people wanting to kick-start a healthy lifestyle or to pump up their nutrition?
A. I would say the biggest thing I learned is how important the ingredient label is when making healthy food choices. There are so many products on the market that try to trick you into thinking that they made something healthy for you to eat, but you can be the judge of that by checking out the ingredients! Make sure that you know what you are reading and you feel comfortable fueling your body with whatever it is.
